Product Description This is the Intelli IMT-600 Auto Tuner, which is an upgrade to the IMT-500. It has a mode selector switch to choose between Chromatic, Violin and Guitar modes. The IMT-600 is a clip style tuner that picks up vibration directly from the instrument. It can be used on a noisy stage because it ignores distracting noise that can confuse other tuners. It attaches easily to any instrument and has an easy-to-read LCD meter that acts like an analog meter. The Backlit LCD panel illuminates making it easy to see in the dark. Some of the technical specs are: Calibrate from A = 430 to 449Hz with 1Hz step. Quadra flat tuning - no need to remove a capo to tune your guitar. Tuning range: 12-note full range chromatic, A2-B7. Tolerance: +/ 0.5 cents, uses Quartz Crystal. Clearly shows how sharp or flat you are in cents. Powers off after 3 minutes to save battery life. Power source: Coin battery 3volt (CR2032) (included). Overall Dimensions: 45x45x55.8mm, (body only 45x45x14mm). Weight: Approx. 50g (including battery)

Works well, but trouble with low-E August 30, 2010 Wayne M. Simpson (Brick, NJ United States) At a street price under $20, it's hard to fault this little clamp-on electronic tuner. It has settings for Chromatic, Guitar and Violin (should I ever really want to punish myself).
A number of people have noted problems picking up the 6E (low-E) string on a guitar. When my unit arrived, I was delighted to find it had no trouble at all doing this, but then I went and adjusted the truss rod to tune out a slight bow in the neck, and now the tuner won't pick up the low-E string at all. It doesn't matter where I clamp the tuner onto the headstock, though I admit there is little room on my guitar's slim headstock to move the thing around much. I get around this problem by fingering the 6th string to the third fret and tuning it as a 5A, which it has no trouble at all picking up.
The only other problem I have is that you need to have the string tension pretty close to find the note you're looking for. This will be an issue when it comes time to re-string, especially if you're starting from scratch after removing all the strings to clean and polish the fretboard. It would be nice if you could set the note you were looking for and have the tuner tell you low or high while you close in on it. I don't know if any of these small tuners are any better in this regard.
So in closing, it isn't as useful as it could be, and it ain't perfect at what it does do, but for the price and the functionality it brings, I have to like it.
Caution: rubber pad may leave an ugly stain on headstock July 21, 2010 Arthur Zatarain (New Orleans, LA USA) The tuner works as expected, but should not be parked indefinitely on the guitar. I left the tuner on my nearly pristine Rickenbacker 360/12 for about two weeks, resulting in an ugly stain on the polished finish. The stain is on the light colored portion of wood, and is very noticeable. I was unable to remove the stain with non-abrasive cleaners, so the discoloration must have seeped into the finish. Bummer.
Small, Handy, and Accurate July 7, 2010 Don Trapani (Sacramento, CA USA) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
My experience with this tuner is in line with the others here: it works great but has trouble with the low E string. In all other areas, it is great! Clips on easily, is very small, will fit in the case pocket with no problem, and has a bright and easy-to-see display. (I haven't even peeled off the plastic shield and it is very bright and clear.) That said, I have a pretty good ear, and if I can get one string on pitch, I can get the others tuned in short order, so the reluctance to detect the low-E string doesn't really bother me. I tuned with my old unit and checked with the IMT-600, and it was dead-on. The obvious advantage is that it is using vibrations and will not be affected by the radio or others tuning or playing their instruments. That's worth the price alone. My old tuner went though 9V batteries too quickly anyway, I had to actually remove the battery after each use because there was some kind of phantom drain even when turned "off". I haven't had the IMT-600 long enough to give any opinion of battery life, but I haven't seen anyone else report this as a problem.
Bottom line: this is a great little unit for a great price, unless you have a poor ear. If you absolutely need the low-E function at 100%, you'll need to spend more for a different tuner.
Gret easy to use product. June 5, 2010 S. Knight Very happy with this tuner, fits in my case easily, is very easy to use and tunes to a great tone.
Not too bad, but not good enough for me. May 24, 2010 raymay23 My old tuner was broken and I bought this tuner for my guitar. If you do not use the tuner very often, this tuner might be okay. However, if you use the tuner very often like every day, this tuner makes you frustrated because this tuner does not catch the pitch from your instrument exactly sometimes. If you try couple times, finally this catch exact pitch. I will not buy this tuner for next time.
